2,7-Bis(9,9-spirobifluoren-2-yl)-9,9-spirobifluorene (TSBF) has three spirobifluorene joined at 2,7-positions. Exhibiting high glass transition temperatures (Tg = 231 °C), excellent thermal and color stabilities, spirobifluorene derivatives, such as Spiro-OMeTAD, are well sought for in OLED devices.
Being sterically hindered, TSBF is normally used as fluorescent host material in OLED devices. With low threshold of amplified spontaneous emission(ASE) and suppressed electroluminescence efficiency roll-off, TSBF is also a promising candidate for realising electrically pumped organic semiconductor laser diodes.
