2,5,8,11-Tetra-tert-butylperylene (TBPe), a family member of perylene, has been widely used as a blue fluorescence emitter in OLED devices.
With the introduction of four steric tert-butyl groups to the perylene, electroluminescent devices using TBPe as a dopant have the benefit of electroluminescent color stability; this is due to a lower degree of molecular aggregation tendency in the non-planar perylene structure.
The steric hindrance of the side groups also prevents the formation of exciplex and charge trapping, leading to higher efficiency of the electroluminescent devices.
Perylene derivatives, Blue fluorescence emitter, Light-emitting diodes, Organic electronics, TADF blue dopant materials, Sublimed materials.
